CDA had the privilege of
reconnecting with Myeshia, inviting
her to share her powerful journey
at our Annual Conference. Her
story deeply resonated with our
employees, reigniting their passion
for CDA’s mission and vision while
showcasing the profound, lasting
impact of their work.
Her experience is a testament to the
fact that CDA’s work goes beyond
providing resources—it’s about
creating equity, opening doors, and
transforming lives. Myeshia’s faith,
persistence, and purpose have guided
her through adversity, and her story
continues to inspire others to rise
above their circumstances.
In 1995, as a teenage mother,
Myeshia faced daunting challenges—
balancing school, work, and the
responsibilities of raising a family. The
odds were stacked against her, but
CDA provided the child care services
she needed to overcome them. “CDA
didn’t just remove one barrier; they
built a pathway to success,” she
re昀氀ects. Myeshia graduated high
school, pursued higher education, and
built a career in education. Today, she
holds multiple degrees, including a
master’s, a teaching credential, and
an administrative credential.
The impact of CDA’s support
extended beyond Myeshia. Her
children, once part of a generational
cycle of teenage parenthood and
poverty, have 昀氀ourished. “CDA gave
us stability and wings,” she says.
That stability not only empowered
Myeshia to succeed but also set the
foundation for her family to break
cycles and reach new heights.
As CDA embarks on the next 50
years, Myeshia’s story stands as
a beacon of hope, illustrating the
power of investing in families. “CDA
