Fifty years ago, in 1974, one woman’s vision for a better future
sparked a ripple of transformation that continues to grow today.
Charlene Tressler, a single mother of four, knew 昀椀rsthand the
challenges of raising a family while striving to build a better life.
Amid personal struggles, she recognized a critical need in her
community: access to quality child care and support services for
families like hers.
What started as a small community preschool has grown into
a thriving, multi-service nonpro昀椀t with over 300 employees
committed to empowering families and child care providers.
Today, CDA remains deeply rooted in the values of its founder,
driving positive change through an expanding range of services
and programs. With a legacy of dedication, growth, and
unwavering commitment, CDA continues to make a lasting
impact on the communities it serves.
